The BC Public Service Agency provides a 12-month paid internship for young Indigenous British Columbians, ages 19-29. The purpose is to help Indigenous youth build professional skills and networks, get a taste for pursuing a career in government, and above all, awaken their capacity for leadership. It is an opportunity for young people who want to make a difference and to lead their communities and the province into the future. The program goals are to:
- Encourage Indigenous youth to consider the BC Public Service or Indigenous organizations to as a place to pursue a rewarding career.
- Support Indigenous youth to develop their leadership skills;
- Provide opportunities for Indigenous youth to contribute and improve relationship building between Indigenous communities/organizations and the provincial government;
- Contribute to the closing the social and economic gaps that exist between Indigenous people and other British Columbians
